Sanna Salmenkallio
Sanna Salmenkallio is one of Finland’s most distinguished film composers, with a body of work that spans more than thirty films, as well as numerous theatre and dance productions. Her music has earned her some of the Nordic region’s highest honours, including the HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award in 2022 for her score to Virpi Suutari’s AALTO, the Finland Award from the Ministry of Culture, and an extraordinary four Finnish Jussi Awards for Best Film Score.
Educated at Finland’s renowned Sibelius Academy, where she earned her classical music degree, and the Theatre Academy, where she specialised in sound design, Sanna’s work bridges the worlds of sound and music with rare sensitivity. Her compositions weave together classical precision, contemporary textures, and experimental curiosity — equally at home in the sweep of a symphony orchestra as in intimate chamber or electroacoustic settings.
