Persona Non Grata

After the death of her husband, former skier Andrea is confronted with many problems. The relationship with her parents and her daughter Sara has always been tense, and she has to cope with the loss of her partner alone. Her neighbor uses this fact to his advantage and becomes sexually intrusive. Because without witnesses and evidence, there is no evidence for a complaint. Traumatized and plagued by fears, she tries to cope with her everyday life. At the same time, however, incidents of abuse by various sports associations go through the media, reminding Andrea of her own fate in the ski association’s youth homes. The ski association, in which she tries to set up a contact point for such cases, reacts with incomprehension and rejection.

Andrea’s conscience torments her, the accusations seem to fizzle out and she sees the perpetrators get away with it again. In the wake of the #MeToo wave that is currently rolling from America to Europe, Andrea decides to give an interview about her time as a young professional skier. In this very personal interview, she records the monstrous power structures of the home management at the time and how the abuse between colleagues and coaches continued. In doing so, she unleashes a media avalanche to which her family also reacts with rejection, the truth is too painful, which is probably not unknown to her parents. However, more and more people support the allegations, which leads to a rapprochement between mother and daughter. Together, they master the weeks after the outing and form a sworn team to survive in the various attacks of the association and in the social media. A story of liberation based on true events.
